Cavities can cause stomach problems

Cavities can cause stomach problems

90% of the Mexican population has cavities and does not know it.

Cavities are the first symptom of most dental ailments.

The Mexican Dental Association reports that 90% of Mexicans have cavities and do not know it, due to poor hygiene habits and not going to their regular dental checkups.

Most cavities are caused by poor brushing technique, i.e., the patient does not remove food residues and these generate “tartar”, which hardens and covers the tooth.

“It is important to visit the dentist at least every 6 months for dental check-up and cleaning, in some patients due to the type of “PH” of the saliva it is recommended every 4 months, in this way the specialists at La Clínica Dental can detect a condition in time and treat it before it becomes serious.

Dr. Rosa Ma. Montezuma

At La Clínica Dental we have observed that 8 out of 10 patients come for a check-up because they present discomfort, mainly pain, caused by a caries that was not treated in time and already has an important depth, reaching the nerve and causing pain.

Why Sugary Foods & Chemicals Lead to Cavities – La Clinica Dental Roma

The high consumption of foods with coloring, sugar and some chemicals causes that, when they are not properly removed from the teeth, they “bite” the tooth, i.e., they break the enamel and disintegrate it from the inside, harboring bacteria.

These bacteria are found in the mouth, every time you swallow food or drink water some travel down the esophagus and reach the stomach, remember that these bacteria, by this time, are already decomposing and when they reach the stomach they can cause pain and infection. In addition, bacteria in the mouth cause bad breath, which in most cases is a bit embarrassing when in public.

There is no culture of prevention and orientation in dental health, which causes patients to neglect important symptoms such as a slight toothache. Visiting every 6 months for a check-up will help to detect caries at an early stage and treating it will not cause greater affections in the organism.

At La Clínica Dental we guide patients on the importance of prevention and dental care, and we recommend two dental cleanings a year.[i] The clinic also recommends that patients have their teeth cleaned twice a year.
